Sampling Pech IV
In August 2021, fieldwork was undertaken by an international team to excavate, with a high degree of precision and spatial resolution, the basal layer of Pech de l'Azé IV. The team led by V. Aldeais, D. Sandgathe, P. Goldberg, S. McPherron and D. Olszewski indeed aim at characterizing the numerous Mousterian combustion features from Layer 8.
We took this operation as the chance to take OSL samples from the Quina and adjacent layers to incorporate the assemblage from the core area of the Quina World in the wider picture.
